Shannon is a figurative painter with a background in journalism and experience as an advertising copywriter. That unique combination of skills, along with her love of people, inspire her to find imaginative ways to tell stories in paint.
Shannon is intrigued by archeology and local history — following the thread of a story to see where it lands. Paintings feature layers or strata to represent the passage of time and are enhanced with collage, found objects and metal leaf. Specially created painting “toppers” are then used to complete the stories.
You’ll know Shannon from her celestial-inspired art, such as Major Tom (below) and her glow-in-the-dark moons.
Her work has been included in many local exhibitions and juried shows like Hudson’s Art on the Green and the Cleveland Botanical Garden and displayed at Cleveland Hopkins Airport.
Shannon Casey is one of the founders of Uncommon ART. If you’ve been in, you’re sure to have seen her glow-in-the-dark moons.
Shannon and her husband Jeff live in Hudson with their dog, Art. She is thankful for the opportunity to create and paints for the keeper of the stars.
